Getting Started with Kiteform Forms
When you make your first form in Kiteform, you'll see it's made up of different "building blocks." Start typing to make a text block appear automatically, but there are many more types of blocks you can use!
To find out what kinds of blocks you can add, just type /
in your form editor. This will show you all the blocks you can use and give you a list of shortcuts to help you build your form faster.
Create a New Form
Navigate to your Kiteform dashboard, and you'll find the + New form
button on the top right. Click this button to start crafting your first form.
To begin, type your form's title and press enter. You can choose a form template from our gallery, but for simplicity, let's start from scratch. To add questions and answers:
- Click
+
or type/
to see the available pre-made input blocks. - Alternatively, add questions by typing
/title
or/label
and select an answer field from the input blocks list—type/number
to add an number field, for instance.
Select, Move, and Duplicate Blocks
- To move or duplicate blocks: Drag the question title or label to move all associated blocks. You can also select individual blocks for more precise adjustments.
- To delete blocks: Hover over a question title and click the trash icon, or select blocks and press backspace.
- To duplicate blocks: Click on a block you want to duplicate and press
cmd/ctrl + D
, or use the dotted icon for more options.
Make Questions Required or Optional
Questions are required by default, marked with a *
. Click the *
to toggle the required status or use the options icon next to the question block.
Block Options
Click ::
on the left of an input block to open block options. Depending on the block, you can:
- Edit the question field name
- Hide the block
- Make the block required
- Add a default answer
- Duplicate or delete the block
- Set character limits
- Add images to multiple-choice questions
- Add conditional logic
Create a Multiple-Page Form
To add pages to your form, type /page
. This allows you to separate your form into sections. You can rename the pages to reflect their content, with each page title automatically numbered to indicate sequence.
Add a Thank You Page
At the end of your form, you can add a custom Thank You page by toggling next to the last page title or typing /thank
.
Preview and Publish
Before sharing your form, use the Preview button to see how it will look to respondents. When ready, click Publish to distribute your form.
Auto-Save Feature
Kiteform automatically saves your changes as you edit. It’s important to manually publish changes to make them live. A blue notification dot next to the Publish button indicates unpublished changes.
Discard Unpublished Changes
To revert your form to the last published version, click the Changes button.
